The Daily Almanac

Cookie Policy

Last updated: June 5, 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar local-storage technologies The Daily Almanac uses. We use only what the site needs to work — there is no advertising and no third-party tracking.

Strictly necessary

Authentication cookies (set by Supabase) keep you signed in and refresh your session securely. A language cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) remembers whether you prefer English or Spanish. These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off.

Local storage

Your in-progress and completed boards are saved in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off, even without an account. This stays on your device unless you sign in to sync it.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookie-free: it measures aggregate, anonymous traffic without storing identifiers on your device or tracking you across sites. Our own usage analytics work the same way — anonymous, aggregated events with no cookies and no identifier stored on your device.

No advertising or tracking

We do not use advertising cookies, social-media pixels or third-party trackers. Because everything we store is strictly necessary or cookie-free, the site does not need a cookie-consent banner.

Managing cookies

You can clear or block cookies and local storage from your browser settings. Note that blocking the necessary ones will sign you out and may erase locally-saved progress.

Changes

If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will update this page and ask for your consent first.
